The start of 2026 has been lovely so far, calm and easy. I've had work and seen friends, and had lots of cuddles with my cat. I'm not sure I subscribe to New Year's as a concept, but a lot did happen in 2025, it actually felt about 3 years long... It's worth pointing out that I have no concept of time. It was a long year, though.
I'm excited to turn 30 this year. I don't know what to expect for the next decade of my life, but I think maybe I'm getting the hang of this whole ageing thing. My 20s have lasted such a long time. Despite being interrupted by a global pandemic, I got an undergraduate and a master's degree, moved countries, met the love of my life, got my little baby cat Mr Sylvester, learned to drive and bought a car - not at all in that order.
I've learnt that getting older doesn't change who I am fundamentally; maybe I've improved slightly, but my favourite things have always remained the same. I'm just as silly with my friends now as I was when I was tiny, just now I'm taller, and there's sometimes alcohol involved.
I hope whoever you are reading this, that you are feeling positive about the year ahead, too.
