BLONDIE

As a natural blonde I never thought it would be difficult to return to being blonde but after dying my hair ginger for the past 3 years I had to put a lot of thought into it. I had been to the hairdressers to go from ginger to blonde before but that resulted in Yellow hair which is not at all what I wanted and I did not want that to happen again.

I'm not going to go into too much detail about what I used and why but I started by dying my full head with a mixture of medium and baby ash blonde dyes from superdrug, then dip dying / adding highlights with bleach and then toning and I really love how it turned out. The basic idea of going blonde from ginger is to stick to ash and neutral tones and avoid anything golden or copper, you're not guaranteed an ashy shade but your are far more likely to get rid of the current copper tones in your hair without stripping or bleaching it first.

This is the photo I found and pinned on pinterest that was the main inspiration for the colour I wanted my hair to be and the kind of tones I wanted in it. Mine definitely didn't turn out exactly the same but I am over the moon with how well I managed to do it myself and am so so happy with the colour. Who knows how long it'll be like this though as I do always seem to go back to ginger...

  1. How did you create this yourself?! Looks absolutely amazing - I've had so many hairdresser disasters recently, i may just have to try doing it myself :) xxx

    1. Honestly I think it's just a case of knowing what you want, putting in the research and getting the tones of the dyes right! I just made sure I bought ash toned dyes, toner and purple shampoo to get rid of the auburn tones! I think my problem with going to the hairdressers to get it dyed is that they can't see what I've visualised in my head! x
